ENGINEERING UNDERGRADUATE SOCIETY OF MCGILL UNIVERSITY STUDENT-FACULTY LIAISON COMMITTEE Policy Adopted July 2018 by EUS Board of Governors

Article 1: Definitions

1.1 The Engineering Undergraduate Society of McGill University (hereafter “EUS”) is the registered name of the non-for-profit corporation representing the engineering and architecture undergraduate students at McGill University.
1.2 The Board of Governors of the EUS (“Board of Governors”) is the administrative board of the Engineering Undergraduate Society of McGill University which is composed of Administrators as defined by the EUS Constitution.
1.3 The EUS shall recognise all Departmental Societies, Clubs, and Design Teams set forth in the relevant articles of the EUS Constitution as EUS Groups.
1.4 The McGill Engineering Student Centre (“MESC”) is the student advising centre for the engineering students of McGill University.
1.5 The Student-Faculty Liaison Committee (“SFLC”) is a committee of the EUS which creates dialogue between the EUS and the Faculty of Engineering with regards to EUS Members’ academic and extracurricular opportunities.

Article 2: Membership of the Committee

2.1 The eight (8) departments recognized by the SFLC are:
2.1.1 Bioengineering;
2.1.2 Chemical Engineering;
2.1.3 Civil Engineering;
2.1.4 Electrical and Computer and Software Engineering;
2.1.5 Mechanical Engineering;
2.1.6 Mining Engineering;
2.1.7 Materials Engineering;
2.1.8 School of Architecture.
2.2 The SFLC shall consist of:
2.2.1 The VP Academic of the EUS;
2.2.2 The VP Student Life of the EUS;
2.2.3 The Presidents of each Departmental Society;
2.2.4 The Associate Dean (Student Affairs);
2.2.5 The Director of MESC.
2.3 In the event of a vacancy or conflict, a Departmental President may appoint a representative from their Departmental Council subject to ratification by that Council.

Article 3: Duties of the Committee

3.1 The VP Academic of the EUS shall:
3.1.1 Call and chair committee meetings at least one (1) time per semester during the academic year.
3.2 The VP Student Life of the EUS shall:
3.2.1 Take minutes of SFLC meetings.
3.3 The SFLC shall:
3.3.1 Discuss matters related to the curricular and extracurricular activities of EUS Members, including but not limited to:
3.3.1.1 Clubs and design teams;
3.3.1.2 The McGill Engineering Design Network (MEDN) and other design team spaces;
3.3.1.3 Mental health and wellness;
3.3.1.4 Lecture recordings;
3.3.1.5 Co-op policies;
3.3.1.6 Full-time and part-time status.
3.3.2 Take action on discussion topics to improve the student experience.

Article 4: Amendments

4.1 Amendments to this policy shall be approved by a simple majority vote of the Board of Governors.

Article 5: Interpretation

5.1 In the case of a conflict between this policy and the following documents, the following documents prevail in the order in which they are listed:
5.1.1 The Quebec Companies Act;
5.1.2 The EUS Letters Patent;
5.1.3 The EUS Constitution;
5.1.4 The EUS Bylaws.
